Hi

I've got us a book for all my guests to hopefully sign. The thing is all the pages are blank, so on the front page I want to write something but not sure what so it encourages people to write in it. All I've come up with so far is our names and the days date.

Could you guys help and let me know whats in yours please.

Thank you

I don't think it matters if something is written in the front or not but you thank people for coming and would like love them to share their thoughts and wishes for you both on your wedding day.

Get someone to be in charge of the book and get them to take it to people. You are much more likely to get people to write something that way. People forget, don't know where it is, think I'll do that later and then never do etc.

I heard a good idea somewhere... take polaroids of your guests and stick them into the book, that way they will feel obliged to write something, you could entrust the job to an usher so you dont have to do it!

Just a word of advice - make sure you get someone to take it around your wedding party.

Ours only has a handfull of notes wrote in it...

The polaroid idea is good - the other thing you could do is to stick photos of yourselves in there - people are bound to comment and add lovely wedding wishes.

On ours the front page had our names, the name of the ceremony location (possibly reception location too, can't remember), then the names of the bestman and other attendants. To be honest loasds of people signed it and it was out in the foyer on its own! We did have a big feather pen though, once word got around that it was there loads of people signed it. Don't worry, just let people know it's there and people will sign.

If they can't be bothered do you really want their comments anyway?

Ours had our name on the front, but we made sure it was passed around. Get the best man or BMs to do this.

you could put something like thses in :

Guest Book Poems

A precious collection of memories,
this guest book is meant to be,
Take your time, collect your thoughts,
And write them down for posterity,
You may choose words of wisdom,
Wit, encouragement or a joke,
Possibly a poem, a funny drawing or a wedding anecdote.
Whatever your means of expression,
Our gratitude we cannot measure.
This guest book will be, no doubt,
An heirloom that we will treasure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We thought that this book would become - a great souvenir,
So if you have a wedding message - please write it in here,
Perhaps some words of wisdom, encouragement, or joke,
A poem, a drawing, a sentence, or marriage anecdote,
We'll look through it fondly in years to come,
For its you who will make it a special one.
--------------------------------------------------------
Please write a message in this book,
For the bride and groom to treasure.
These memories will keep our day alive,
Bringing joy we cannot measure.
All your good wishes will be kept secure,
Bound up within this book,
And once in a while we'll open it,
And take another look.
-------------------------------------------------
This day for us is special,
A time beyond compare,
The joy we feel in our hearts,
We're glad our guests can share.
Now share with us your marriage tips,
For a long and happy life,
Present us with your words of wisdom,
To help us as man and wife.
----------------------------------------------------
On this table you will find -
Our wedding guest book for you to sign.
Please take a moment on a page so bare
A sentiment or two to share.

Please use a page for each of you -
So we may know your feelings true.
This little book will serve as we -
Keep it forever in memory.

This is what I did and it worked really well. I got my 8 year old nephew to do it for me and loved every minute of it! You also end up with photos of your guests too, next to their message, which is really nice.

i've got a wish tree, have made little tags with silver ribbons. The hope is everyone will write on a tag and tie it on the tree, we will them stick the tags in a book to keep and have lots of nice picciies of the tree!

Love those poems, great idea.

Our guest book has blank pages - we were going to send our female usher round with ours as she's very outgoing, so will probably have a chat to everyone as she takes it round!
